Arafa Vidyalaya is located in Addalaichenai, a picturesque village of Ampara district, the heart of the east where rice paddies flourish, surrounded by green scenery on all four sides.
We are proud to briefly examine the history of this school from the beginning till today, which has played a major role in the educational development of the people of this town.
Although the exact date of the establishment of this school, which is now called Arappa Vidyalayam, is not known, M. Ganapathy was the first student of this school and Mr. Since S.Kannapar was also registered on 02.03.1931, 1931.03.02 is mentioned as the date of establishment of this school.
It has been found through M's research that this day has been predicted as the opening day of this school. It is significant that there are 40 Muslim students and 13 Tamil students in this school with a total of 53 students. Continuing its successful journey, the first annual report of this school was collected on 13.07.1932 and the students at that time were 84 boys and 06 girls.
Sikandar Lebbai Podiyar Khadija Umma, a Dhanawandar, donated the land of this school for the educational development of this town. After this, Km/ Arafa Vidyalaya was built as the second school of Addalaichenai.
In the early days, this school was located in Addalaichenai North and it was named as Arafa Vidyalaya North Government Tamil Kalavan School and the principal and teachers were Mr. C. Mailbodi, Mr. N. Nallathambi officiated and 90 students (84 males 06 females) were educated.
In 1956, the said school was renamed as Addalaichenai Muslim School and the number of students continued to increase. On 05.01.1993, the name of this school was changed to Ak/Arafa Vidyalaya. who was the principal of this school in the early period up to 5th standard, was in 1959. Their service is admirable for being diligent. In 1995, approval was given to place Year 09 as per the Education Policy Reform Organisation. Year 10 was also added this year.
Janab, who took office as the President on 13.06.1995. AB. Abulhassan is all parents. The teacher presented various projects with the cooperation of the students. During this period, the shortage of teachers in this school increased and it is happy that 08 teachers were provided and relieved from M College of Education in 1995. In the year 1997, it was decided to start G.P.D. (S/D) classes in this school and in 1998, G.P.D. (S/D) classes were started.
Currently serving as the 32nd principal of this school is M.A It is significant that Ansar Sir has been working hard for the educational development of his school students since he set foot in Arafa on 23.12.2015 till date. As a result of his tireless efforts and sacrifices, it is a significant success that he has won the first place in the G.P.D.
With 492 students and 30 teachers, this Arafa Vidyalaya shines with various facilities due to the tireless efforts of the people and teachers of this region to continue on the path of progress and our best wishes for the great progress of this school.
